Many of the beginners think that www.example.com (http://www.example.com) is a website but no it isn't a website to be frank. It is only the address of your website. the main website is actually hosted with a web host which come in two classes

1. Free Web Hosts (Ideal for beginners to start with)
2. Paid Web Hosts (Good for Pro's and for those who have a good knowledge of web development)

There are many scripts which could be used to develop websites some of the common ones are HTML, php, asp, jsp etc. It is totally upon the site owner to choose which script he wants to use in his/her website. According to me the easiest script for web development is HTML or php Forums (like on our site Tutorialistic).

Here are some Q&A for very beginners

1. What is a domain ?
A. Domain name can be reffered as the address of your website.

2. What is the cost of a domain ?
A. It may vary between different registrars. There are also a few Domian registrars which provide domains for free. http://www.co.cc is one of the examples.

3. How should I choose a domain ?
A. Domain should be choosen to be easy like our site is based on Tutorials so we have choosen Tutorialistic for our site.

4. What is a web host ?
A. A web host is where you actually host the site then it it is re-directed using a domain.

5. Is web hosting unlimited and free ?
A. Some of them are free but not unlimited most of the web hosts have Space & Bandwidth limit (per month).

6. What is Space & Bandwidth ?
A. Space is a amount in which your website is hosting for e.g A host provides space of 10 MB then you cannot host a website which has a size of more than 10MB.
Bandwidth can be reffered as a unit which counts traffic on your site or refers to a data rate measured in bits/s.

Stage 2 of more Q&A coming soon :)

There are some inaccuracies in that article/post. Firstly, the title is misleading. This is not about web development. Its more of an HOW TO on setting up a website. Secondly, HTML is not a scripting language; it is a markup language. Also, no host provides unlimited space or bandwidth, if they claim so then they are fooling you. Regarding domain names - .com, .net, .org domain names should not cost more than Rs 400 ($10). Its usually cheaper than that. Name.com sells domain names for as low as $6. And you get what you pay for, so only use free hosting if you are not serious about your website or have doubts about its success.

Yes, I know some charge that much thats why I said Rs 400 was average. Anyway, why buy from them if they charge so much? Namecheap and Godaddy are two of the best registrars and their prices are around the Rs 400 mark.
