View Full Version : why can't name con?[SOLVED]
yesterday i moved some icon images in a folder and i waned to rename it "icon"
by mistake,i skipped 'i' and typed on "con". amazing thing was nothing changed.I tried again to name a folder with "con" but it wasn't changing. Is there any problem with me pc?

That's a bug. Even Microsoft can't answer this.

Don't be fool. Its not a bug. "con" is used a command in dos . The complete command is "copy con" which is used to make a file via Dos. When you enter con in the folder name,it doesn't recognize.
From my point of view,i think microsoft is restricted so that if somebody wants to create a folder with name "con" via Dos,he will have to use "copy con con" which is not possible in MSDOS.
I know its pretty tough to understand what i have explained but that's the Fact.;)

the one in the windows tips n tricks forum.though only the thing that a folder with the name 'con' cannot be created in desktop was said.no reasons were specified.
