Vista is only ahead in terms of Design otherwise XP is still the Best. That's the reason why MS closed the selling of it so that Vista may be sold more .

For me, it would have to be Windows XP Professional, as that is the OS I currently have installed on all of my computers. One thing I like about XP compared to vista, is that the networking features are more user friendly, and it uses just the right amount of system resources so there aren't really any problems with it.

vista is too much of a change, and it is slow as hell..

I would prefer Xp because it is best in all sense. It is fast, is more user friendly whereas Vista is just good looking.

Vista is the future. And it isn't at all bad with SP1. In fact, it is better than XP!

Actually,vista isnt that worse.
The only problem with it is you need higher configurations.
If you have installed Xp in a system with 2gb or more ram and a similar high level motherboard blah blah, your system will run 10 % less than what is its maximum performance.Vista is the choice for these PCs.
While,Xp is the best for ordinary PCs with moderate hardware components.
So the final call would be
1.)Up to date hardware configurations- Vista
2.) Ordinary or medium hardware configurations-Xp.
