If you have a tip/trick for speeding up windows. post them here.

Disabling startup programs

Do you know some programs auto start with windows ? this results in slow booting time.
you can easily reduce the time for windows booting here is how:

1. Click on Start button then go to run.
2. Type "msconfig" (without quotes).
3. After you see msconfig window click on startup tab.
4. In the startup tab disable some of the programs by unticking the checkbox on the left.

Note: Do not untick the programs which are related to Windows. like if you see "X:\Windows\abc.exe" don't disable it as it exists in Windows directory. this applies to all files which are located in Windows directory.

what is svchost?
svchost.exe is like a host for other processes that run from/using dynamic-link libraries (.dll).

To be simple this process (svchost.exe) controls other process which run in background. If this process is terminated other programs/functions might not work properly.

Does Each scvhost.exe control different parts of the system??
Because when I shut one down the Net connection stopped and the other shut the Sounddriver down!(No sound)
And one more which I stopped gave count down for the PC to shut down?!
To rectify the above I had to restart the PC.
